Opening Ritual |
Leave the mundane behind and kick-off your festival weekend with opening ritual. Help create sacred space and set intentions for the weekend, say hello to loved ones and meet new friends. Led by Lisa Adams (formerly Starnes)
Lisa has been a witch all her life, but only came to understand what that meant when she was 19. She has been practicing and growing as a pagan/witch ever since - undergoing training, attunements and initiations along the way. She works as a full-time massage therapist and esthetician and is recognized as an ordained minister, performing weddings and other rites of passage for many wonderful folks! She has been actively involved in organizing and festival planning since 2000 and dearly loves leading group ritual. Her bachelor's degree is in religion and women's studies, but she likes to tell people that she majored in the Goddess. Be sure to say hello to Lisa so she can flash her brilliant smile at you!

Sweat Lodge Ceremony with Petros (3 hours) |
Purify the body, mind and spirit so that a new sense of Self may be present through this Sweat Lodge Ceremony. The Sweat Lodge is made of saplings set in the ground in a circle and lashed together to form a rounded frame, which is then covered with blankets, blocking out all light. The door to the Lodge is built low so we have to enter on our knees, a reminder to be humble and to understand we are no greater or lesser than other life-forms. There are usually four rounds; one to honor each cardinal direction. At the beginning of each round, stones heated on a fire adjacent to the Lodge are brought in and placed in a pit in the center. Once the door is closed, prayers and songs of gratitude are offered to the Spirits and energies representing that particular direction. Please hydrate well and fast or eat lightly before entering the Lodge as well as spend some time contemplating your intention for the ceremony. Men usually wear shorts or trunks, and women traditionally wear loose-fitting dresses or skirts, although shorts are also acceptable. There is an additional $20 fee separate from festival registration to attend this Ceremony. 18+ only with a signed waiver, limited to 25 people. While Land Celebration Lodges are based in the Native American tradition, they honor many other paths as well, and the gifts of all are welcome to be shared in the Lodge. Main Ritual with Irene Jericho |
Led by Irene Jericho, a High Priestess of the Tradition of the Witches Circle, and member of Cassandra Syndrome, our Main Ritual is an all-music family-friendly experience. This chanted ritual will feature the purification of all participants by the Sun Dragon, followed by a blessing. Hand drummers are encouraged to bring drums for the ritual. The chants we are using for the ritual will be played over the sound system to assist in good ritual flow, so don't worry if you don't know the melody. Click here to familiarize yourself with the chant order and ritual movement.

Closing Ritual with Jackie Beltane |
In the Wiccan tradition, Litha/Midsummer is the time that our God has put His foot upon the path to the Underworld. It is the beginning of the dark part of the year; even with the hot and sunny days, we know that our Lord is dying. Yet, we also know that our Lady's womb quickens with the life that will be the Sun God reborn. The ritual will not only say goodbye and farewell to the festival, but to the God. We will weave the web of interconnection, and take a part of it with us as we journey home.
